I’ve had a quite the career so far. For the past decade, I’ve been running my own design studio, taking on many roles including web and print designer, content creator, developer, user experience designer, and consultant.
There is no experience that could better prepare a person for working in the design industry.
There is no experience that could better prepare a person for working in the design industry. Working for myself has taught me to quickly adapt to the constantly shifting landscape of design processes, standards, and software. I’ve become an expert on lean and agile product development, as well as project management and resource allocation. When necessary, I have contracted the talents of other agencies and worked with them to develop the best possible outcomes for my clients. I’ve learned to simplify communications with stakeholders and end-users, and developed a worked ethic unmatched by most traditional employees.
I came to understand the importance of User Experience and interaction design a unique way: by teaching. I took on a small part-time contract teaching adults and senior citizens about social networking, creating blogs, digital photography and Photoshop.
Watching my students – particularly the elderly – interact with their browsers and devices opened my eyes to the challenges of User Experience.
Watching my students – particularly the elderly – interact with their browsers and devices opened my eyes to the challenges of User Experience. I learned as much from them as they did from me, and I enjoyed teaching for a number of years.
Over the years I’ve been a guest lecturer at Universities and design conferences, and I have no problem speaking in front of a crowd or communicating complex ideas to any audience, large or small.
On the side, I'm an award-winning musician, writing and producing albums with commercial releases in North America, Europe and Japan. I've acted as the marketing and design lead on these projects, designing for international audiences, producing videos, as well as managing tours and projects.View Process
